URGENT need for more money
Those attending the 'Growing Healthy Churches' programme in Lent
last year voted almost unanimously that "sacrificial giving of
money is supported and encouraged by a regularly reviewed stewardship
programme".
We should be very proud of the tradition of stewardship giving within
our church. But there does come a time when we all need to
review whether we are giving enough and the time to do that is now.
Simply, in 2005 we did not receive as much money in income into the
church as we had outgoing expenses; in fact we were about £7,000 in
the red. We do not have the final figures yet for 2006, but
we do not anticipate an improvement in our overall position.
We have some money in reserves which means that we are not in crisis
this year, but we cannot continue to drain our funds and we need to
take immediate action so that our income is exceeding our outgoings.
We need to increase the monies received through the planned Giving
scheme by at least £15,000 per year to cover the growing costs of
bills and obligations.
£15,000 each year may sound a lot, but it is spread amongst many.
We are asking:
- Every person in our Planned Giving Scheme to increase their giving
by £1.50 per week (less than the price of a quality Sunday paper).
- Every person who is on the Electoral Roll and is currently not
in the Planned Giving Scheme to join and consider giving £20 per month.
- Everyone who has asked to be on our Contact list to join the
Planned Giving Scheme and give at least £5 per month.
If you are on the Contact List then you will be a receiving a letter
from the Rector in the next week which will explain in more detail
how we hope that you can help. Your contributions will, as
always, remain confidential and known only to the Stewardship
Recorder.
Please pray, reflect and review what you can give in a thoughtful
and generous way. We need your support urgently.
Thanks
D.E. - Chair of the Stewardship Committee
