The Churchyard

Ancient & Modern

This page is under development.

The old churchyard is located around the church itself, on the East side of New Lane Hill.  This area is no longer in use for burials but is occasionally used for the interment of ashes.

The new churchyard is located opposite the church, on the West side of New Lane Hill, and is accessed through the Lych Gate.  This area is still in use for burials and the interment of ashes.  There are water taps for watering plants and flowers, and bins for refuse.

For all enquiries about churchyard matters, including searches for information from the churchyard records, please contact the Rector.

An extract from the Parochial Church Council minutes of 22nd November 1933 reads:
For the information of all whom it may concern it is hereby declared that the Burial Ground adjacent to St. Michael's Parish Church is the Churchyard of St. Michael's Parish and that consequently no one can purchase any burial space therein.
Photographs of graves in other churchyards and cemeteries around England and Scotland are available from the UK Graves website.
